Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well
Your Toronto chiropractor knows your spine! Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre knows anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned much about anatomy of the spine and utilizes that knowledge every day. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is always at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient walks through the door! It is so exciting! (Are you not you glad someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
Going through school, we’re all guilty of learning just to pass an exam. When in professional school, such learning is more vital than ever since it will impact everyday work. (How much do you remember from your high school or college days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described that chiropractors felt that a higher level of anatomy teaching during chiropractic school was advantageous for clinical practice, permitting better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical information to substantiate a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners rated their knowledge of anatomy and proved it by taking a test of their knowledge. This was compared to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors showed that they retained their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the thought that chiropractic practitioners may not keep it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is used every day in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your Toronto chiropractor does! Just ask to find out more.
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE
Performing spinal manipulation every day uses knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most ordinary reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The most common treatment they received were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get plenty of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of chiropractic care emerge in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers reported on the immediate effects of manual therapy to the upper thoracic spine on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come experience these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on spinal anatomy knowledge.
